Dr. Babak Michael Nayeri

Chair Emeritus, Immediate Past Chaiperson


Dr. Babak M. Nayeri has dedicated his professional career to population health and health systems improvement, public health, and teaching the future workforce. He serves as the State’s lead on Healthy Aging. He is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Geriatrics, General Internal & Palliative Medicine, with a joint appointment at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Throughout a career of service, he has led interprofessional teams to excellence in performance through strategic thinking, innovation, and proven business models. He has extensive experience in leading complex health system teams with cultural agility to close the gap on disparities and achieve greatness.

Dr. Nayeri is a strong mentor to service teams and peers. In his current duties as Director of Healthy Aging at the Arizona Department of Health Services, Dr. Nayeri serves on a number of national and state boards & commissions including but not limited to: the Healthy Brain Research Network (HBRN), the Arizona Attorney General’s Health & Safety Committee (HSC), the ASU Center for Innovation in Healthy Aging and Resilient Aging (CIHRA) Board and the Board of Directors’ Military Liaison for the Arizona Health Care Executives, a State Chapter of the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE).
